At Capital Skin and Laser, our signature vascular laser is DermaV®, a next-generation, non-invasive laser engineered to selectively target hemoglobin within superficial blood vessels while preserving surrounding tissue. The result is a clearer, more even complexion—radiant, not red.
DermaV® delivers controlled laser energy that is preferentially absorbed by hemoglobin within unwanted blood vessels. This creates controlled destruction of the vessel wall, causing it to collapse and gradually be reabsorbed by the body. Over a series of treatment sessions, excess vessels are selectively diminished. The key advantages of the DermaV® include its high selectivity for superficial blood vessels, advanced cooling for enhanced comfort, reduced risk of bruising compared to older laser platforms, and safety across all skin types.
Treatment with DermaV is efficient and well-tolerated. After a thorough consultation and evaluation of your skin, the laser is calibrated to your specific needs. Protective eyewear will be provided to shield your eyes from the laser light. The laser is carefully passed over the treatment areas. You will feel brief pulses of warmth or snapping as the energy selectively targets unwanted vessels. DermaV’s integrated cooling protects the skin’s surface and improves overall comfort. Most sessions last between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the extent of redness being treated.
Immediately afterward, it is normal to experience mild redness and subtle swelling similar to a light sun exposure. Certain vessels may temporarily darken before gradually fading. These effects typically resolve within hours to a few days. Bruising is uncommon, but can occur when treating larger or more prominent vessels.
There is no required downtime. Most patients return to work and regular activities the same day. Gentle skincare and strict sun protection are recommended. Some vessels clear immediately, while diffuse redness improves progressively over several weeks as the body naturally reabsorbs the treated vessels. A series of treatments may be advised for optimal correction, particularly for rosacea or widespread facial redness.
If persistent redness, visible blood vessels, or rosacea are affecting the appearance of your skin, a consultation at Capital Skin and Laser can help determine whether vascular laser treatment with DermaV® is appropriate for your concerns.
