Microneedling

Collagen loss begins as early as our mid-20s, with gradual loss thereafter. The earliest signs (fine lines, enlarged pores, textural roughness, early laxity) reflect this structural depletion.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a precision-based treatment designed to stimulate new collagen formation in a controlled, strategic way. When performed proactively, it acts as a form of collagen banking: building and preserving dermal reserves before significant breakdown occurs.

At Capital Skin and Laser, microneedling is positioned as both corrective and preventative—an investment in long-term skin integrity.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling uses controlled, sterile microchannels to activate the skin’s natural wound-healing cascade. This cascade initiates fibroblast stimulation, neocollagenesis (new collagen production), elastin formation, and dermal thickening and remodeling.  The result is a gradual improvement in skin strength, elasticity, and surface refinement over weeks to months. Microneedling is effective for fine lines, mild to moderate acne scarring, enlarged pores, uneven tone, and early preventative aging. It is safe for all skin types when performed with proper depth control and technique.

The Concept of Collagen Banking

Think of collagen as structural capital in the skin. Starting treatment before aging is visibly apparent helps to:

  • Slow the trajectory of dermal thinning
  • Preserve firmness
  • Reduce future reliance on more aggressive correction
  • Maintain smooth texture and pore refinement

Rather than chasing aging, collagen banking shifts the strategy to prevention and maintenance.

Microneedling Experience & Results

Before beginning the procedure, your face will be thoroughly cleansed, and a topical numbing cream will be applied. Treatment typically takes 30-45 minutes. The microneedles break the skin barrier at a controlled depth (safely going deeper than can be achieved at home with microneedling tools).  After treatment, your skin will be pink, resembling a sunburn for 1-2 days. Most patients resume normal activities the following day. A series of 3-4 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is commonly recommended for optimal collagen stimulation. Preventative patients may incorporate maintenance sessions 1-2 times yearly.

Kind words from our patients

“Dr. Spring and her staff were upbeat, attentive, and caring. They saw my anxiety prior to my procedure and took an extra moment to talk through it with me, which made me feel like they care about me as a whole person. I’ve never felt anxious prior to treatment before so this extra step really hit home.”
